Well...this piece was made especially for the Nature Inspired Contest on *JewelryClub .
First of all I must say that I was inspired by this amazing photo of an iris [link] by ~merigiros . I was instatly captured by the strength of this picture. So I made an effort to capture the colours, the different textures, the depth and the complexity of this flower by layering different kinds of taffeta, satin ribbons, chiffon, fringes and lace. In the end the piece was embellished with little white perls and yellow beads. Everything is handsewn. According to the Victorian Language of Flowers the iris is a symbol of wisdom, faith and hope. Flirty, playful, complex and strong this piece, for me, expresses the feminine side of all things, a tiny fragment of Mother Nature. For more info, please visit : [link] |
